We are completely new to trekking and as we are just over the 40 hill,we would like to prove to everyone and ourselves that we can do this………..and raise some money for our chosen charity-Macmillan Cancer Support in the process. The Trek will be self funded (although any donations towards this are very welcome) and so all the money raised will go straight to the charity.

Just a bit of background…..we have been married for just over 22 years and have two wonderful children and a beautiful cat to share our lives with.We both work full-time (Mike as a Farm Manager and Sam as an Administrator) and decided to do something in our spare time to get fit and raise some money for a worthwhile cause. Its really going to be a hard slog and we have a lot of money to raise. But we love a challenge.

The trip itself is about 40km long but,as we have found out,it’s the altitude which is going to be the hardest obstacle. We will land in Lima, then transfer to Cuzco which is over 3400m up.Then during the trek cross up to Dead Womans Pass which is over 4200m (13800 ft)high….this is the real challenge……before dropping down to the ruins of Machu Picchu.

We will endeavour to update and inform you of our progress and to highlight anyone who helps with major donations or sponsorship.………let the fun begin……..
